In India, the fisheries sector has seen an unprecedented growth - with the total catch increasing from just 50,000 tonnes in 1950 to more than 3.4 million tonnes in 2015. But before you celebrate on behalf of the country’s GDP, consider the far more significant danger of Indian marine life being over-exploited to a point of no return.
Like a lot of you reading this, seafood remains an important source of protein for much of our population, but we Indians need to be more responsible about our seafood choices. Until now, there was no resource available to help with this.
